Didn’t get the points for medicine? The door isn’t closed.

I’m Waditha — an Irish second-year medical student in Bulgaria. I help students from Ireland and the UK into English-taught medical schools in Europe, because I took this route myself.

A note from Waditha

Lived experience, honest guidance

Waditha Loku Pathirage

I sat the Leaving Cert wanting one thing: to study medicine. The points didn’t fall my way, and the CAO door closed.

Instead of repeating — or letting go of medicine — I looked to Europe. Today I’m a second-year medical student at Medical University of Pleven: I’ve sat the entrance exam, filed the applications, found the apartment (€140 a month) and survived my first Bulgarian winter. When I guide a family through this, it comes from lived experience, not a brochure.

I take no commissions from any university. The only person paying me is you — so the only person I answer to is you.

The Door Isn’t Closed

A free, honest guide for Irish & UK families — 2026/27 edition

Ten pages, written from the inside: the real costs country by country, how recognition works when you come home, the February intake that means a missed August needn’t cost a year, and an honest look at when repeating is the better call.
