Didn't get into medicine? Your options in Europe for 2027

You can still start medicine in 2027, taught in English at an EU university. Two start in February 2027; most start in September or October. What decides it is your biology and chemistry, and getting your documents moving early.

When do families usually find out?

Whether you were hoping for a UK offer, medicine through Clearing or a late CAO round, Europe is the parallel route, and its windows don't wait for those dates.

What's still open for February 2027?

Two English-taught EU universities still take first-year students: RSU in Riga (medicine and dentistry) and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice (medicine). See the list.

What about September 2027?

Most English-taught medical schools in Europe start in September or October 2027. Applications open in spring (RSU's on 1 March 2027) and many close over the summer, some before results day. Bulgaria's universities set their own entrance exams in biology and chemistry; RSU and Silesia rank you on your school grades.

What should I do first?

  1. Check where your subjects fit. Biology and chemistry matter most: what counts in the Leaving Cert and A-levels.
  2. Start the documents early. A UK paper apostille alone usually takes up to 25 working days, and Bulgaria's recognition centre then takes up to a month.
  3. Ask me where you can apply. It's free.
